Day 1 – One the Road

We are officially on the road! The two weeks in Tacoma, which included a test run to Mt. Rainier, getting the bus generator worked on, spreading dog ashes at Pt. Defiance, multiple trips to Costco and Trader Joe’s, was officially not on the road. We started out in the early afternoon, made a quick stop at the Safety Rest Area up the I-5 (because we already can’t pass up a free dump station and water fill up) and headed to Snoqualmie Falls. Our first stop.

Snoqualmie Falls is quite lackluster. It’s completely engineered above the drop, almost dam like, with power generation downstream and Army Corps placards celebrating American ingenuity. They do have a nice parking lot for walking the dogs.

Our goal that was Skykomish, but it was late afternoon, it started to rain heavily. We saw an RV in a small park in Monroe, Washington, so we joined them to weather the downpour. At 1 AM, we saw red flashing lights and the RV leaving 15 minutes later. I assumed we’d be next, but we weren’t. The police let us be. Beginners luck?
